The German Football Association denied the accuracy of reports that a decisive meeting was held on Thursday to finalize the appointment of Jurgen Klopp as head coach of the senior national team, stressing that the matter is still under study and has not reached its final stages.

The association clarified that reports of an expanded meeting of the supervisory board and relevant parties were incorrect, indicating that a number of details still need to be finalized before a final decision is made, without disclosing the date of the upcoming meeting.

Media reports had suggested that Klopp could be officially introduced on Friday as the German national team coach with a contract extending until 2030, but the association's denial cast doubt on the announcement being made at that time. Nevertheless, indicators still point to the former Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool coach being close to taking over 'Die Mannschaft', succeeding Julian Nagelsmann, who left after Germany's elimination from the round of 32 at the 2026 World Cup following a loss to Paraguay, the team's third consecutive failure in major tournaments.
