Gold medal for Qatar in Asian U23 Championship in China
Ordos / China / on July 11 / QNA / Qatari athlete Saif Eddine Mohamed won the gold medal in the pole vault competition today at the Asian Athletics Under-23 Championships held in Ordos, China.
Saif Eddine Mohamed recorded a height of 5.54 meters, the best mark of the competition for this category, to finish first and claim the fifth medal for the Qatari team in the championship, after gold medals by Hatim Hameed in the 800-meter race and Zakaria Ibrahim in the 3,000-meter race, a silver medal by Ahmed Jebreen in the shot put, and a bronze medal by Salah Younes in the 100-meter race.
Qatar's athletics team is participating in the championship with a group of promising runners in the Olympic Under-23 category: Saif Eddine Mohamed (pole vault), Ahmed Jebreen (shot put), Khaled Hussein (400m and 4x400m relay), Zakaria Ibrahim (3,000m steeplechase and 1,500m), Hatim Hameed (800m and 4x400m relay), Salah Younes (100m), Omar Daoud (110m hurdles), Abdulrahman Mohamed (400m hurdles and 4x400m relay), and Mubarak Abdulkarim (400m and 4x400m relay).
