Haaland consoles family of deceased child with touching message
Norwegian Erling Haaland continues to portray a player whose influence extends beyond the pitch, after he made a touching humanitarian gesture to the family of the child Dennis, who tragically died in a traffic accident at the age of six, and was one of the biggest fans of the Norway national team striker.
Haaland and his family sent a handwritten condolence letter to the child's parents, Matias and Teriel, accompanied by a Norway national team shirt signed by the Manchester City star, in an initiative that received widespread praise on social media.
The letter read: 'Dear Matias and Teriel, we offer our deepest condolences on the passing of Dennis. As a family, we cannot imagine the pain you are going through, but we want you to know that we are thinking of you during this difficult time. We know how much Dennis loved football, and therefore we wanted to send you this letter.'
The letter ended with a simple signature carrying the phrase: 'The Haaland family,' confirming that the initiative came from a humanitarian spirit away from the spotlight. For his part, the child's father published a picture of the letter and the shirt on his social media accounts, and wrote with touching words: 'If Dennis were here today, he would be proud.'
This initiative was not known to the public, as the Haaland family preferred to keep it away from the media, before the child's father shared it himself, turning it into one of the most touching humanitarian stories during the 2026 World Cup.
While continuing to make history with his goals, Haaland has proven that his value is not only measured by what he does on the pitch, but also by his humanitarian stances, which leave an impact no less important than his football achievements.
