German club Hamburg announced on Friday the official signing of Moroccan midfielder Bilal Nadir from French side Olympique Marseille on a free transfer, with a long-term contract.

The club's sporting director, Claus Costa, confirmed that Nadir possesses great technical potential, pointing to his ability to control the tempo of the game and link the team's lines, in addition to his commitment to defensive duties, expressing confidence in the player's ability to make an immediate contribution and continue to develop with Hamburg.

The club explained that the 22-year-old player will wear the number 4 jersey, after successfully passing the medical examinations, and immediately joined the team's pre-season camp in Austria.

Meanwhile, Kathleen Krüger, member of the Hamburg board, praised Nadir's abilities, confirming that he is a versatile midfielder who will give the team more flexibility and additional depth in the squad, in addition to his compatibility with the club's playing style and values.

Nadir began his career at the OGC Nice academy in France, before moving to Olympique Marseille's reserve team in the summer of 2021, then was promoted to the first team in 2023, where he played 53 matches in various competitions, scoring two goals and providing five assists, and also participated in the UEFA Champions League and Europa League.

Internationally, Nadir represented France at youth levels before deciding to represent Morocco, where he was first called up to the senior national team in March 2025, but has not yet made his official debut, having previously played for Morocco's U23 team.

Nadir said after signing his contract: "I am very happy to join Hamburg, and I look forward to meeting the fans and defending the club's colors," before immediately joining the team's training sessions.
