Barcelona president Joan Laporta commented for the first time on reports linking Ferran Torres to Paris Saint-Germain, confirming that no official contact has been received from the Parisian club regarding a potential transfer.

While in the United States to follow the World Cup semi-final between Spain and France, Laporta was asked about the future of the international striker, downplaying the circulating rumors, stressing that the player remains in Barcelona's ranks.

Laporta said in response to the possibility of Ferran moving to the European champions after the World Cup: 'I heard something about this, but we have not received any official confirmation. Ferran is a Barcelona player.'

The statements of the Catalan club president come after press reports indicated growing interest from Paris Saint-Germain in the player in recent hours.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Parisian club entered into negotiations with the player's agents several days ago, and it is said that the deal has reached advanced stages, but the official announcement is postponed until after the World Cup.

For his part, Ferran Torres is keeping all options open, and despite receiving an offer to renew his contract with Barcelona, he has not yet made a final decision. If he decides to leave Barça, his priority would be to join one of Europe's top clubs, and Paris Saint-Germain led by Luis Enrique is the most prominent option for him.

Nevertheless, Laporta preferred to highlight the player's performance with the Spanish national team, saying: 'Ferran is delivering excellent performances; he poses a real threat every time he plays, and he provided the decisive pass to Merino who shined against Portugal.'

He also noted the importance of Barcelona's international players participating in the World Cup, adding: 'We have special players in the World Cup, and that's one of the reasons I am here.'
