A press report revealed on Monday Atletico Madrid's stance on the statements made by Barcelona president Joan Laporta regarding the Rojiblancos player, Julian Alvarez.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta arrived in the American city of Dallas, preparing to watch the decisive match between the Spanish and French national teams in the semi-finals of the Football World Cup, scheduled for Tuesday evening.

He spoke about Alvarez, praising his performance against Switzerland, but adopted a cautious tone regarding the deal: "We made a huge offer that impressed the coach and the technical staff, but it has a specific deadline, and is not open indefinitely."

He added: "I personally contacted Atletico's leaders, and made it clear that our offer will remain valid until they find a suitable replacement, and we will not exert any pressure on them," refusing to disclose the financial value proposed.

Nevertheless, newspaper 'Mundo Deportivo' stated that Atletico does not want the player to leave, especially to Barcelona, something they completely rule out. Furthermore, they believe that Barcelona has begun to accept the fact that Julian will not join them.

It confirmed that no significant reaction has been issued regarding the Barcelona president's statements, as the situation remains unchanged.

But some other messages are private. Now it is rumored that Atletico Madrid is forced to sell players to cover the 80 million euros they have already spent on signings, thus being able to register new players.

Nothing is further from the truth than that, because the signings of Grimaldo, Heulmand, and Kang-in Lee (the signing of the South Korean player has not been officially announced yet) were within the transfer budget allocated for the 2026/27 season.

These three deals together represent the amount Atletico Madrid has already spent on signings last season.

Nevertheless, from now on, the plan is to allow players to leave before signing others. In other words, with these three deals completed, it will be time to sell some players to make room for other deals.

But Atletico is not in need of selling at the moment, especially with the expected capital increase. A large part of this money will be allocated to the sports project.

The Argentine player is currently focused on the World Cup. After stating that leaving Atletico Madrid is the best option to achieve his "dream", Julian has not spoken about his future again in his statements to the media following Argentina's matches.

Aware of the impossibility of his move to Barcelona, a return to England seems to be the only option available to him if he wishes to leave.

In this context, newspaper 'The Independent' reported on Sunday that Arsenal is planning another attempt to sign Julian Alvarez, and that with Atletico Madrid refusing to negotiate with Barcelona or Real Madrid, London will be the only available option, and an offer may soon reach the Wanda Metropolitano stadium.

A large sum of money and a striker like Gyokeres could be the key to this deal, while bearing in mind, as mentioned, that Atletico Madrid does not want Julian Alvarez to leave.
