After Renewal... Liverpool Star Declares: I Want to Win Everything

Hungarian international Dominik Szoboszlai has signed a new long-term contract with English club Liverpool, running until 2031, continuing his career with the Reds ahead of the new season (2026-2027).

The upcoming season will be the fourth for the Hungarian star in a Liverpool shirt since joining the team from German side RB Leipzig in the summer of 2023, and it will also be his first season under new head coach Andoni Iraola.

In an interview with the club's official website, the number 8 shirt wearer expressed his great delight at this step, saying: 'This might be one of the greatest days of my life. There are other days that come before it, of course, like the day I first signed for Liverpool and the moment my child was born, but in my football career, I can say this day ranks among the top three days.' He added: 'I am very happy and can't wait to get started again and again. As I've said many times, I am just happy to be here.'

So far, Szoboszlai has played 147 matches for Liverpool in all competitions, scoring 28 goals. His first season at Anfield saw him win the English League Cup, before he played a pivotal role in leading the team to win the Premier League title in the (2024-2025) season.

The 25-year-old midfielder produced his best individual form with the Reds last season, scoring 13 goals and providing 12 assists in 53 matches, which earned him the Standard Chartered Player of the Season award voted by fans.

Regarding his future ambitions, the Hungarian star commented: 'There is always more to give, I am never fully satisfied. Actually, I am satisfied with myself but I think I can give my best. That is why I am sitting here today, because this passion has driven me since I was a child; the feeling that what I have achieved is not enough, and I still have the same mindset even now.'

Szoboszlai concluded his comments by talking about his desire to lead the team to trophies: 'I want to be a role model for everyone with all my might. When I first signed for Liverpool, I said I want to win everything, and that ambition hasn't changed for a single moment; I still want to win every possible trophy in this country, plus the Champions League of course. I am fully ready to take on this challenge.'
