Liverpool announces contract extension with Szoboszlai

English Premier League club Liverpool announced on Friday the extension of its contract with Hungarian international Dominik Szoboszlai with a long-term deal, ahead of the 2026/2027 season.

The club's official website stated that next season will be Szoboszlai's fourth with the team since joining in the summer of 2023 from German side Leipzig, and it will also be the first under the leadership of head coach Andoni Iraola.

Szoboszlai told the club's official website: 'This might be the greatest day of my life.'

He added: 'There are two days that precede it, probably when I first signed for Liverpool, and of course, when I had my first child. But in my football career, I can say this ranks among the top three events.'

So far, Szoboszlai has played 147 matches for Liverpool in all competitions and scored 28 goals.

In his first season with Liverpool, he won the English Football League Cup with the team, and he was also an important part of the squad that won the league in the 2024/2025 season.
