Liverpool are confident they can beat Arsenal in the race to sign Paris Saint-Germain star Bradley Barcola, who is valued at around £100 million.

Arsenal have made Barcola a target in the transfer market after losing the race to sign Morgan Rogers, who joined Chelsea from Aston Villa in a deal worth £117 million.

However, The Sun understands that Liverpool are currently leading the race to sign Barcola, who is also attracting interest from Bayern Munich.

The Reds are looking for a heavyweight attacking signing following the departure of veteran star Mohamed Salah.

Liverpool have already failed to sign Jan Diomande, who is set to move to Paris Saint-Germain from Leipzig.

There is no doubt that Diomande's arrival in the French capital means the European champions can afford to let go of Barcola, who produced impressive performances for the French national team on their run to the World Cup semi-finals.

Barcola, 23, has just two years remaining on his contract with Paris Saint-Germain and appears ready for a new challenge in his career.

PSG also need to generate cash as they pursue Monaco midfielder Magne Akliouche, 24, who is valued at around £43 million.

Liverpool have already completed the signing of Spanish winger Victor Munoz from Osasuna for £34.5 million, while Jeremy Jacquet will join the team after an agreement was reached for his transfer from Rennes last January for £55 million.
