Mane Announces Retirement from International Football
Senegalese winger Sadio Mane, who plays for Al-Nassr, announced on Friday his retirement from international football after the conclusion of his country's participation in the 2026 World Cup.
According to the Senegalese newspaper Le Quotidien, the Al-Nassr player said in a statement: 'I sacrificed everything for this flag, I gave my best, and I always fought for my country.' He asked for forgiveness from the Senegalese fans for any shortcomings or disappointments they experienced during his career, expressing pride in what he gave to his national team.
Mane thanked the fans who supported him throughout his career, saying: 'Your constant support was the main driving force of my career.'
The Al-Nassr player expressed his desire to serve Senegalese football from any other capacity, saying: 'I will be happy to put my experience at the service of the nation, whether within a coaching staff, on the training bench, or inside administrative bodies.'
Mane concluded his message with the phrase: 'Long live Senegal,' affirming that his love for his country will remain steadfast even after the curtain falls on his international career.
