Márquez Wins German Grand Prix
Spanish rider Marc Márquez, a seven-time world champion riding for Ducati, won the German Grand Prix on Sunday at the Sachsenring circuit, adding this victory to the sprint race win and strengthening his position in the title fight. The Ducati rider capitalized on starting from pole position to secure the win, but faced intense competition in the early stages from his younger brother Álex Márquez. The Gresini Racing rider stayed close to Márquez in the opening laps before crashing out on lap ten, ending his chances. After Álex's exit, Márquez controlled the race from the front, keeping Raúl Fernández of Trackhouse Racing and Ai Ogura at bay to claim his record 10th premier class victory at one of his favorite circuits. Ogura overtook Fernández in the final laps to finish second, becoming the first Japanese rider since 2002 to achieve three consecutive podium finishes in the class, while Fernández placed third. Aprilia rider Jorge Martín, the championship leader, finished fifth, crossing the line behind KTM's Pedro Acosta in fourth. Fabio Di Giannantonio of VR46 Racing, considered Márquez's biggest rival after qualifying third and standing on the sprint podium, crashed early and lost the chance to take the championship lead. Former championship leader Marco Bezzecchi was sidelined after suffering a broken left collarbone in a violent crash during qualifying; Aprilia announced that the Italian rider underwent successful surgery.
