Spanish media reports confirmed that Joan Laporta, president of Barcelona, achieved a new judicial victory in the case related to Reus Deportiu.

According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, the Court of First Instance No. 22 in Barcelona ruled to dismiss the lawsuit filed by María Teresa Alibau Pache against Laporta, his vice president Rafael Yuste, Javier Sala Martín, and Joan Oliver, as well as the companies Cor Store and CSSB Limited, on fraud charges.

The ruling issued by Judge Marta Bo stated: 'The lawsuit does not include any elements that allow inferring the existence of facts constituting a crime of fraud, and it has not been proven that there was an intention to criminalize the transactions in the manner alleged by the plaintiff.'

The details of the case go back to two investments made by the plaintiff in Reus Deportiu through the two aforementioned companies. The plaintiff herself acknowledged receiving the benefits of the first investment, while the court rejected the complaint regarding the second investment due to the lack of any evidence of criminal activity.

This ruling is the second in Laporta's favor in a short period, as the Barcelona Provincial Court had rejected at the beginning of last June the first fraud lawsuit in the same case, which was filed by former tennis player Albert Ramos, accusing Joan Oliver, the former general manager of Barcelona and the largest shareholder in Reus, of deceiving him in a failed business project. However, the court denied the occurrence of fraud and upheld the decision of the investigating judge.
