(CNN)-- Marc Cucurella and his Spanish teammates won the 2026 World Cup, held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Cucurella's teammates secured the title after defeating France 1-0 in the final match hosted at MetLife Stadium on Sunday.

On Monday, former Spanish player Juan Capdevila, who won the World Cup with Spain in 2010, posted a video of Marc Cucurella on his X account.

The video showed Cucurella approaching the sideline before the kickoff of the final match and placing something under the grass.

Capdevila commented on the video, saying: "Now I'll tell you a secret: in 2010, I buried a coin in the grass before the match started. I've told this story a million times. I asked Cucurella to do the same thing yesterday. Marc, I love you."

It is unclear what significance the coin had, but both Juan Capdevila (48) and Marc Cucurella (27) believed it brings good luck.
