Oliver Glasner appointed Nottingham Forest manager
Nottingham Forest have appointed Austrian Oliver Glasner as their new head coach, replacing Vitor Pereira. Glasner expressed his delight and highlighted the club's vision and ambition.
English club Nottingham Forest announced on Monday the appointment of Austrian Oliver Glasner as the new head coach of the first team, replacing Portuguese Vitor Pereira. In a press statement, Glasner said: 'I am very happy to join Nottingham Forest as head coach,' noting that his initial conversations with the club's owner and management revealed a clear vision and complete confidence in his project to build a strong future for the club. The Austrian coach added: 'Nottingham Forest is a historic and prestigious club, twice European champions, with one of the most passionate fan bases in football. Our goal is to build a team capable of taking the club to a higher level in the coming years and to be a source of pride for our fans.' Greek owner Evangelos Marinakis explained that the choice of Glasner came after a mutual conviction in vision and ambition, stressing that the team's objective is not limited to competition but to winning titles and building a group capable of achieving long-term success. Glasner left Crystal Palace at the end of last season after leading them to win the Conference League, achieving a historic feat by winning the FA Cup against Manchester City, the first major title in the club's history. Glasner is the fifth coach for Nottingham Forest in one year, following Portuguese Nuno Espírito Santo, Australian Ange Postecoglou (current coach of Saudi club Al-Nassr), Sean Dyche, and the other Portuguese Vitor Pereira, who was recently dismissed. In recent weeks, Glasner had been linked with major teams including Italian side Milan and the German national team, before Nottingham Forest secured the deal. The 51-year-old Austrian coach previously led German side Eintracht Frankfurt to win the Europa League title in the 2021-2022 season.
