Jassim Rashid Al Buainain announced his resignation as chairman of the board of directors of the Qatar Football Association, ending a three-year tenure, following the Qatari national team's elimination from the group stage of the 2026 World Cup.

Al Buainain published a statement on his official social media accounts, emphasizing that his decision comes after a phase that witnessed many challenges, noting that teamwork and dedication were the foundation for achieving many accomplishments during his presidency.
