Swiss midfielder Remo Freuler has become close to moving to Saudi club Neom, after negotiations between the two parties reached their final stages.

Freuler (34 years old) started in all of Switzerland's matches during the 2026 World Cup, alongside his compatriot Granit Xhaka in midfield, and caught attention with his performance in the tournament.

Despite interest from both Roma and Juventus in securing his services, according to French newspaper L'Équipe, it seems the Swiss international has become closer to embarking on a new experience in the Saudi league.

Freuler became a free agent after his contract with Bologna ended, with whom he played 40 matches last season, and he is expected to join Neom soon, which is led by French coach Christophe Galtier and also includes French defender Malang Sarr.
