A press report revealed, on Wednesday, a new development regarding the future of Portuguese player Joao Cancelo, the Saudi Al-Hilal player who played on loan for Barca last season.

Joao Cancelo exited the World Cup with the Portugal national team at the hands of Spain in the Round of 16, a week after his loan contract with FC Barcelona ended.

According to the newspaper "Mundo Deportivo", Cancelo (32 years old) traveled to spend his vacation, and is still spending it on the Italian island of Sardinia while waiting for Saudi Al-Hilal, with whom he has a contract until 2027, and Barcelona to finalize his permanent transfer agreement.

The Portuguese full-back is completely calm; all he wants is to play for Barcelona.

The terms of his contract with the Blaugrana have been agreed upon, and only a few tax details remain before the official announcement of his joining.

At Barcelona, they do not expect all arrangements to be completed before the first team's training camp at "St. George's Park" in England before the end of this month, so Cancelo is likely to start pre-season training with Al-Hilal under the leadership of Simone Inzaghi.

There is still plenty of time, as Barcelona's opening league match is on Sunday, August 23, in Elche.

Currently, Flick has first-team player Alejandro Balde and reserve team player Jofre Torrents available to fill the left-back position, in addition to Gerard Martín, the left-back who has proven himself as a center-back.

On Tuesday, they were joined in training by 17-year-old left-back Jordi Pesquer, while Balde was following a separate training program.
