Second most expensive deal in Premier League.. Chelsea officially announces signing of Rogers
Chelsea announced on Tuesday evening that they have officially signed England international Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa, to bolster the Blues' squad for the upcoming period.
Chelsea stated on their official website that the 23-year-old Rogers has signed a contract keeping him at Stamford Bridge until 2033, and he will join manager Xabi Alonso's squad ahead of the new season.
Rogers joins Chelsea after establishing himself as one of the most prominent young attacking talents in the Premier League.
During his time at Aston Villa, his goals and assists contributed to 40 goals in 85 Premier League matches, leading the Villans to a fourth-place finish in the league, before winning the Europa League title last season.
Since his debut for the England senior team in November 2024, Rogers has become a regular starter for the Three Lions, earning 22 caps and representing his country at the 2026 World Cup, where England finished third.
Multiple English media outlets reported that the Rogers deal cost Chelsea 117 million euros (138 million euros), making it the second most expensive transfer in Premier League history, after Alexander Isak's move from Newcastle to Liverpool last summer for 125 million pounds.
It is noted that Arsenal were the most prominent club interested in signing Arsenal at the start of the summer transfer window, before Chelsea moved and snatched the player from the Gunners' grasp.
Chelsea posted a video of Rogers on their official X account to announce the deal, with the caption "Chose Chelsea," in reference to the competition with Arsenal for the signing.
