Spain striker: I'll shake Trump's hand reluctantly so he doesn't put me in jail
Borja Iglesias, the Spanish national team striker, spoke sarcastically about the possibility of meeting US President Donald Trump during the coronation ceremony after the 2026 World Cup final, which will pit Spain against Argentina at MetLife Stadium in the United States next Sunday.
During a video interview with the Spanish sports magazine 'Panenka', Iglesias - known for his criticisms of Trump - was asked whether he would greet the US president if he went up to the winners' podium, and he jokingly replied: 'I have no desire to be thrown in prison.'

The Spanish striker is known for his frankness in expressing his views on social and political issues.
On the possibility of shaking Trump's hand, the 33-year-old said: 'It's something I've thought about, even imagined. I hope to greet him at a moment when we are all very happy, and that it passes quickly and I forget.'
He added: 'Sometimes we also have to forget the moments we've lived,' noting that he does not see the occasion as suitable for 'stirring controversy.'
Iglesias continued: 'People already know how I think, and I am happy to do many things, but the reality is that although people think I am all-powerful, I don't have that much power to confront certain matters. It's complicated, honestly.'
