Al-Ittihad Club announced on Saturday that its first football team player Ahmed Sharahili suffered a tear in the peroneus longus tendon in his left ankle, based on the results of medical examinations he underwent at the club's official medical partner, the International Medical Center (IMC).

The club clarified in its statement that the examinations were conducted just before the start of preparations for the new sports season, noting that the player sustained this injury while carrying out an individual preparatory program with his personal trainer during the vacation period, stressing that it is a new injury in a location he had not been injured before.

The statement added that after consulting with several specialized consultants in orthopedic surgery and foot and ankle injuries, it was decided that Sharahili would undergo surgery next week in the Portuguese city of Porto, performed by a consultant specialized in this type of injury.
