The brilliant Moroccan goalkeeper, Yassine Bounou, put an end to a remarkable penalty streak for the French national team by saving Kylian Mbappé's shot in the 28th minute of the match between the two teams in the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup on Thursday evening.

Mbappé had earned the penalty after being fouled by Moroccan full-back Noussair Mazraoui, but Bounou easily saved the Real Madrid star's shot.

According to the French network 'stats foot', the 'Roosters' had successfully converted their last 17 penalty kicks in all competitions before Bounou stopped Mbappé's shot, ending the streak.
