Midfielder Fabian Ruiz helped Spain enter a historic record, scoring the first goal for 'La Roja' against Belgium in the 30th minute of the teams' clash on Friday in the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup.

With this goal, Spain increased their tally to 10 goals in the current edition of the World Cup, reaching this figure for the first time since the 2002 World Cup.

Ruiz's goal also gave an achievement for Paris Saint-Germain, as the Spaniard became the eighth player from the Parisian club to score in the 2026 World Cup, the highest number of goalscorers from a single club in the current tournament.

The Spanish national team qualified for the World Cup quarter-finals after their easy win over Austria (3-0) in the round of 32, then their dramatic victory over Portugal (1-0) in the round of 16.
