The Dutch star has officially joined 'Al-Zaeem'.. So what is his shirt number?

It has been decided that the Dutchman Crysencio Summerville, the new Al-Hilal winger, will wear a shirt with a strange number, after officially joining the club.

Al-Hilal Club announced on Friday its signing of Summerville, coming from West Ham United, on a contract extending for the next four years, ending in 2030.

According to Al-Hilal's online store, the Dutch winger will wear number 38 next season, a number he has not worn for about four full years.

It is customary that shirts with numbers exceeding 30 are allocated to players promoted from youth categories to the first team, which makes Summerville wearing this number strange.

The only time Summerville wore the number 38 shirt was with Leeds United, specifically at the end of the 2020-2021 season, when he was a player for the under-23 team, and also in the following season when he was promoted to the first team.

At the start of the 2022-2023 season, Summerville received the number 10 shirt at Leeds United, before moving to West Ham where he wore the number 7 shirt over the past two seasons.

The 24-year-old was unable to wear these two shirts due to the presence of Brazilian winger Malcom, who wears the number 10 shirt, as well as Uruguayan striker Darwin Nunez, who wears the number 7 shirt.

It is expected that Summerville will return to wearing one of these two shirts with the departure of one or both players, especially amid reports confirming Al-Hilal's desire to offload them.
