Egyptian star Emam Ashour continued his remarkable performances at the ongoing World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Ashour is starting in the Pharaohs' ongoing match against Australia at Dallas Stadium, as part of the Round of 32 of the World Cup.

Ashour gave the Pharaohs the lead in the 13th minute after rising to a cross from Karim Hafez, heading a powerful shot into the net.

This is Ashour's second goal in the World Cup, having scored against Belgium in Egypt's first match of the tournament, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

It is also Egypt's first goal in the knockout stages of the World Cup since Abdelrahman Fawzi scored against Hungary in the 1934 World Cup.

What distinguishes Ashour's goal is that it came from open play, a feat in which he surpasses Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, who needed six World Cup appearances to score his first goal in the knockout stages, and even that goal did not come from open play but from a penalty spot in the 2-1 victory over Croatia.

It is worth noting that the first half ended with the Pharaohs leading 1-0, and the winner of this match in the Round of 16 will face the winner of the Argentina vs. Cape Verde match.
