With World Cup Win, Spain Achieves Unprecedented Historic Double
Spain made history by winning the 2026 World Cup, defeating Argentina 1-0 in the final, becoming the first country ever to achieve the double of winning both the European Championship (Euro) and the World Cup in two different consecutive cycles.
Spain had previously won the World Cup in 2010 in South Africa, beating the Netherlands in the final for the first time in its football history.
That achievement came just two years after the Spanish national team won Euro 2008 in Austria, defeating Germany.
With the current generation, Spain added to its football glories by winning Euro 2024 and then the World Cup in 2026.
