"Young Green Handball Team" Qualifies for 2027 World Championship

For the sixth time in its history

The Saudi youth handball team secured its spot in the World Youth Championship "Macedonia 2027" after advancing to the semifinals of the 19th Asian Championship, following a deserved victory over its Kuwaiti counterpart (25-23) in the quarterfinal match that brought them together today, Friday, in China, as the 'Green' continues its global presence for the sixth time in its history.

The Saudi team imposed its control over the course of the match from the first minutes, opening the game with a distinguished series of 6 unanswered goals in the first seven minutes, before continuing its defensive and offensive superiority, ending the first half with a score of (13-7), then maintaining its advantage until the final whistle, securing the ticket to the semifinals and guaranteeing at the same time qualification to the World Championship "Macedonia 2027". This achievement is an extension of Saudi handball's journey and confirms the continuous work witnessed in the sport at various levels, amid the development of national teams and their continued presence in continental and global forums.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Handball Federation, Hassan bin Nassar Hilal, explained that qualifying for the World Championship represents a first step in the team's journey in the Asian Championship, pointing out that the technical and administrative staff and players aspire to continue outstanding performances and compete for one of the Asian medals, and to delight the Saudi fans with a new achievement added to the record of Saudi handball. Hilal praised the continuous support and follow-up from His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, Minister of Sports and President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, and from His Highness Prince Fahd bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaid, Vice President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, affirming that this support had a great impact on providing the ideal environment for national teams to achieve accomplishments.
