5 Shortcomings of Gemini That Support Preference for ChatGPT
Google-backed Gemini is a versatile AI tool available across multiple platforms and deeply integrated into Android, giving it unique capabilities not currently found in other chatbots. Google has demonstrated a remarkable development pace in updating Gemini to keep pace with competitors, yet ChatGPT still holds its lead in overall ease of use and response quality.
It does not establish effective connections with external applications.
The tech site Android Authority noted that in daily use of both bots, users preferred ChatGPT as their default choice, despite having access to Gemini's full capabilities through the Google AI Pro plan. Google's chatbot has not yet reached the required level, which drives them to continue preferring ChatGPT for specific reasons.
Users frequently encountered difficulties with Gemini in following complex instructions, as the bot sometimes ignores parts of lengthy prompts, both within individual chats and inside notebooks designed to gather context from multiple conversations. Despite running an integrated expense manager within Gemini, the bot simply refused to follow instructions repeatedly.
Additionally, the scheduled tasks feature in Gemini completely stopped working for users over the past two weeks, and did not respond to repeated restart or manual activation commands. Gemini is still under development and needs substantial improvements to enhance its reliability before being fully relied upon.
In contrast, ChatGPT possesses a large amount of personal context that users have intentionally shared with it through hundreds of practical and personal chats, which poses a significant challenge when switching to a new chatbot. Gemini, despite its extensive capabilities in personal intelligence within the Google ecosystem, has not yet achieved this integration.
Gemini includes a tool for importing chats and personal context from other AI bots, but it has not felt sufficiently motivated to fully switch due to ongoing reliability issues. Also, the new image generation model in ChatGPT outperforms Gemini's Nano Banana model.
Gemini ruins colors in most cases when editing images or generating vectors, even when specific hexadecimal codes are provided, resulting in images appearing faded or unnecessarily bright after minor edits. Users preferred to wait in ChatGPT for its higher-quality outputs compared to the faster Gemini.
Gemini also continues to miss important information in newsletters, even after repeated prompts to compile a more detailed list that does not ignore the finest Android tweaks, highlighting its deficiency in extracting real-time information from the internet, while ChatGPT captures this information more consistently.
