Apple raises iCloud+ subscription prices in Egypt and Turkey by up to 25%
Apple has increased the prices of iCloud+ subscriptions in 8 countries, including Egypt and Turkey, as part of the company's plans to reprice its digital services globally to keep pace with exchange rate fluctuations and the rise of the US dollar against several local currencies.
The decision also included other countries such as Nigeria, Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, and New Zealand, with increases ranging from 11% to 55% depending on the country and plan.
Egypt: up to 25% increase
All iCloud+ plans in Egypt have seen price hikes, with the largest increase in the basic 50GB plan, whose monthly price rose from 40 Egyptian pounds to 50 Egyptian pounds, an increase of about 25%.
The price of the 200GB storage plan rose from 150 pounds to 180 pounds, and the 2TB plan from 500 pounds to 600 pounds, while the 6TB plan increased from 1,500 pounds to 1,800 pounds, and the 12TB plan rose from 3,000 pounds to 3,600 pounds, all recording an increase of around 20%.
Turkey records the largest increase after Nigeria
In Turkey, prices saw the largest increase in iCloud+ among the countries covered by the decision after Nigeria; the 50GB plan rose from 40 Turkish lira to 50 Turkish lira, an increase of about 25%.
The 200GB plan increased from 130 lira to 170 lira, and the 2TB plan from 400 lira to 550 lira. The price of the 6TB plan also rose from 1,300 lira to 1,700 lira, and the 12TB plan from 2,500 lira to 3,400 lira per month, with these increases ranging between 25% and 38% depending on the plan.
Currency fluctuations behind the decision
Apple explained that the price adjustments are tied to exchange rate fluctuations in several markets. Currencies such as the Turkish lira and Japanese yen have fallen against the US dollar, prompting the company to reprice iCloud+ subscriptions to maintain their real value.
In contrast, Apple has not made any changes to service prices in the United States or in countries not covered by the decision.
What does iCloud+ offer?
All Apple device users get 5GB of free cloud storage via iCloud, while iCloud+ subscriptions provide larger storage capacities along with additional features such as Hide My Email, HomeKit Secure Video support, and iCloud Private Relay, which enhances user privacy online.
