Digital Payments in Oman Grow 76% in One Year Driven by E-commerce Boom
Oman recorded exceptional growth in the volume and value of digital payments during 2025, a direct reflection of the vitality of the retail and services sectors and the growth of e-commerce.
Data from the Central Bank of Oman showed that the value of local electronic payments reached 3.2 billion Omani rials, a notable increase of 76.3% compared to the previous year, while the total number of transactions jumped to over 168 million, a growth of 150%.
Point-of-sale devices led the digital transformation scene in the Omani market, as the value of transactions executed through them exceeded 7.5 billion Omani rials during the year, achieving a growth rate of 33.2% compared to 2024.
QR code payments witnessed the fastest pace of development, with the volume of transactions growing by 133.5% to reach about 8 million Omani rials, equivalent to three times its value during the previous year.

This diversity in electronic payment options reflects ease of operations and greater flexibility in managing expenses, along with increasing consumer confidence in the security of digital solutions and their growing reliance on them in daily transactions.
The strong growth in digital payments shows the expansion of economic activity and the evolution of purchasing habits among individuals and companies, and illustrates the progress Oman has made in digital transformation. It also enhances the local market's ability to absorb more innovation and achieve a more competitive and modern business environment.
