French deputies approved Tuesday a ban on social media for children under 15, making France the first European Union country to pass a comprehensive ban on platforms for children, amid growing global concern over harmful effects of digital content on children.

Both chambers of parliament approved the measure Tuesday, a key initiative of President Emmanuel Macron in his second term.
