Samsung phones have started receiving a new Google Play System update for July 2026. The update size varies by device model and One UI version, but it is rolling out to most devices running One UI 8.5 and One UI 9.0 worldwide.

After installing the update, the Google Play system version in the phone's settings will show the new date: July 1, 2026, instead of June 1, 2026.

As usual, Google does not provide a clear changelog for these types of updates, but they typically include security improvements, bug fixes, and performance enhancements for Google services and apps on the devices.

You can check for the update and download it by going to: Settings > Security and Privacy > Updates > Google Play system update.

It is worth noting that last year saw a delay of several months in providing Google Play updates for phones, but Samsung and Google have improved the regularity of their release, and Galaxy users now receive updates monthly at the beginning of each month.
