Google announced the availability of new parental controls for all Android devices, coinciding with the start of summer vacation and increased screen time for children.

These features first appeared on Pixel phones at the end of 2025, but with the Android 17 update, they are now available on all devices that have received the update.

The new parental controls allow parents to set daily device usage limits and schedule "rest" periods where the device locks at night, along with the ability to filter download options from Google Play.

Parents can also block specific apps or restrict the time allowed on certain apps, and these settings can only be modified through a special PIN set by the parent.

These features are also linked to Google's Family Link tool, which provides more options for managing children's Google accounts and monitoring their screen time.

In addition to these additions, Google announced enhanced support for the "Digital Wellbeing" box dedicated to creating new interventions focused on healthy technology usage practices and reducing issues of social isolation among children and adolescents.
