Installation of Two Additional Recycling Machines in Al Ain and Al Dhafra
Abu Dhabi, August 21 / WAM / Abu Dhabi Mobility has installed two additional recycling machines in Al Ain and Al Dhafra, through which individuals can deliver plastic bottles to convert them into points used to pay for trips on public transport buses.
This follows the great interaction shown by public bus users with the initiative of the incentive-based plastic bottle return system, and as part of expanding the initiative's scope to include other areas in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
This step is a continuation of the initiative, in cooperation with the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi and Cycled Technologies, a company specialized in manufacturing and deploying smart recycling stations and reverse vending machines (RVMs) in the country. Individuals can now deposit empty plastic bottles in the 'recycling' devices located at main bus stations and receive points for each plastic bottle.
Digital points are accumulated through the Cycled Rewards app, with points counted for each bottle deposited in the machine, and then converted into credit on the personal 'Hafalat' card, which allows users to pay the trip fare through the automated payment system available on public transport buses.
Abu Dhabi Mobility encourages residents of the emirate to reuse resources and benefit from the earned points as credit to pay for trip fares and act responsibly, aiming to spread a culture of sustainability and adopt an environmentally friendly lifestyle in the emirate.
