Doha, February 04 (QNA) - Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP), a member of Qatar Foundation, in partnership with the TotalEnergies Research Center in Qatar (TRCQ), has announced the launch of the QSTP x TRCQ Water Technologies Accelerator (WaterTech), a specialized accelerator aimed at supporting startups in the fields of water technologies and deep tech that develop scalable solutions.

QSTP explained during a press conference held on the sidelines of the Web Summit Qatar 2026 that the accelerator employs digital tools and modern artificial intelligence technologies to address critical water-related challenges in the Middle East and North Africa region.

In this regard, Ramah Al Shaqa, President of Qatar Science and Technology Park, said: "Water scarcity is not only a future challenge for the region but a present reality. What distinguishes this accelerator is that it does not stop at diagnosing the problem but aims to build an integrated ecosystem to address it."

She stressed the importance of bringing together innovative startups with TotalEnergies' expertise, which solidifies Qatar's position as a place where water solutions are developed and implemented on the ground.

For his part, Antoine Delafargue, President and General Manager of TotalEnergies in Qatar, said: "We focus on exploring new technologies to address the operational challenges facing our industry. In this regard, the latest technologies are being used to meet these challenges. In collaboration with QSTP, we seek to explore and identify innovative solutions that employ digital applications and AI technologies to support this endeavor."

He praised the initiative, which highlights the joint commitment to using technology to make energy resources more efficient and sustainable.

It is noteworthy that this program aligns with the strategic interest of Qatar Foundation in supporting sustainability and resilience at both local and regional levels, with a focus on achieving tangible and measurable impact.

The launch of the WaterTech accelerator follows the recent launch of the QSTP × Merck FemTech accelerator, which supports startups working to improve women's health in the region.

Together, these programs contribute to solidifying QSTP's position as a regional launchpad for specialized innovation in each sector.

The WaterTech accelerator will provide support for up to 60 water technology startups at the onboarding stage, within priority areas in the water sector, including efficiency, waste reduction, reuse, generation, pollution management, data systems, and AI-enabled infrastructure.

This initiative reflects the joint commitment between QSTP and TotalEnergies to support applied innovation, which enhances the innovation ecosystem in the water sector across the region and opens new horizons for achieving long-term resilience.
