Riyadh, 24 Muharram 1448 AH corresponding to 09 July 2026 AD, SPA — The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS 2026) honored six national projects led by the Saudi Authority for Data and Artificial Intelligence (SDAIA), in recognition of their excellence in developing innovative digital solutions that contribute to promoting the responsible and trustworthy use of artificial intelligence, supporting digital transformation, and solidifying the Kingdom's position as a global model in employing modern technologies for sustainable development. The recognition included the project "Granting Accreditation Certificate for AI Service Providers" (AI Ethics Tags) within the Ethical Dimensions of the Information Society category, which aims to encourage entities to adopt ethical practices by assessing compliance with AI principles, and the "Early Detection of Breast Cancer" project, which contributes to supporting the healthcare sector by employing the latest AI technologies for early detection, improving diagnostic accuracy, and enhancing the efficiency of medical procedures, within the ICT Applications in Life categories. The honored projects also included the "Generative AI Accelerator (Ghaya)" initiative, which represents an ambitious model for supporting innovation, within the International and Regional Cooperation category, alongside the "Tahseen" project, which employs AI to digitally restore and enhance the quality of Saudi historical media, and the "Principles and Ethics of AI in the Media Sector" project within the Media category in partnership with the Ministry of Media, in addition to the "Nafath National Digital Identity Platform" project in partnership with the Ministry of Interior, within the Building Confidence and Security in the Use of ICTs category. This recognition reflects the advanced position the Kingdom has achieved in the fields of data, artificial intelligence, and digital innovation, and embodies the success of national efforts in developing technological solutions with local and international impact, contributing to building a secure digital society, enhancing trust in modern technologies, and expanding the scope of benefiting from AI applications across various sectors. This achievement also extends the continuous successes achieved by SDAIA in international forums, through developing pioneering national initiatives that promote innovation, establish governance and ethics principles, and support international cooperation, thus contributing to achieving the ambitions of Saudi Vision 2030 and supporting the targets of the Year of Artificial Intelligence.
