Meteorology on Friday's Weather: Active Winds and Dust in Several Areas and Thunderstorms
The National Center for Meteorology expected, on Friday, the continued impact of active winds stirring dust and sand over parts of Najran, Eastern, Riyadh, Qassim, Hail, Medina, and Mecca regions, which may lead to zero or near-zero horizontal visibility on the coastal road leading to Jazan.
The center's report indicated that the chance remains for thunder showers accompanied by active winds and hail over parts of Jazan, Asir, and Baha regions, and may extend to the southern parts of the mountains of Mecca region.
Red Sea and Arabian Gulf Conditions
The report pointed out that surface wind movement over the Red Sea will be northwesterly to westerly at 15-30 km/h on the northern and central parts, and at 20-40 km/h possibly reaching 50 km/h with rainy thunderclouds over the southern part.
It added that wave height will range from half a meter to one and a half meters on the northern and central parts, and from one to two meters possibly exceeding two and a half meters with rainy thunderclouds over the southern part; the sea state will be light to moderate on the northern and central parts, and moderate possibly becoming rough with thunderclouds in the south.
Similarly, surface winds in the Arabian Gulf will be northwesterly to westerly at 15-32 km/h, wave height from half a meter to one and a half meters, with light to moderate sea state.
