For her part, Dr. Manar Ghanem, Deputy Director of the Media Center at the General Authority of Meteorology, revealed in exclusive statements to Al-Arabiya.net and Al-Hadath.net that there is a severe heatwave in Egyptian governorates, and urged citizens to drink adequate amounts of water and avoid direct exposure to the sun during peak hours.

Natural phenomena

She added: This rise in temperatures is a natural phenomenon that occurs every year at the same time in July and August, where there is an increase in humidity and intensity of sunlight. Increased humidity is the most important factor in summer that makes us feel higher temperatures. When air masses are high and pass over the Mediterranean Sea, they carry large amounts of water vapor, leading to significant increases in humidity rates.

Dr. Manar Ghanem also explained: This makes citizens feel about 5 degrees Celsius higher than the actual value, and because the peak of humidity is in July and August, and it is higher in coastal areas, unlike inland governorates. She noted that most current temperature values are the highest compared to each year, reaching a perceived 41 degrees, and some Upper Egypt governorates tomorrow will reach 45 degrees, especially in Luxor and Aswan.

She concluded: In the Maghreb, some areas in Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia are approaching 50 degrees Celsius, and these are excess increases over each year. The reason is Egypt's exposure to the extension of the seasonal Indian low pressure, as humidity rates exceed 95% in coastal cities along the Mediterranean and exceed 85% in Greater Cairo and the Delta.

For his part, Dr. Mahmoud El-Qayati, member of the Media Center at the General Authority of Meteorology, said in exclusive statements to Al-Arabiya.net and Al-Hadath.net: From today, Sunday, until the end of the week, Egypt will experience moderately hot and humid weather in the early morning, very hot and humid during the day in most regions, hot and humid in areas of the northern coasts, and moderately hot and humid at night in most regions.

He added: This period will witness water mist from 4 to 8 am on some roads leading to and from the north of the country to Greater Cairo, canal cities, central Sinai, and northern Upper Egypt, sometimes dense on some roads.

Dr. El-Qayati concluded by saying: There are also weak chances of light rainfall in areas of Halayeb, Abu Simbel, and the far south of the Western Desert at intervals, with chances of sand and dust stirring in those areas due to wind activity coming from northern Sudan, which may lead to reduced horizontal visibility. Therefore, we advise caution while driving during morning mist times, especially on agricultural and highway roads near water bodies.
