‘Jamrat al-Qaydh’ Begins Thursday: Al-Husaini Warns of Hottest Summer Days
Weather and climate researcher Abdulaziz Al-Husaini identified Thursday, July 16, 2026, as the start of ‘Jamrat al-Qaydh’ (the peak of summer heat) and the first day of the ‘Second Gemini’ known as the ‘Han’ah’ mansion, which lasts 13 days and is the fourth mansion of the summer season.
Al-Husaini explained that climate readings indicate temperatures will reach their most intense levels during this period, with a notable rise in humidity along the coasts. He urged increased irrigation of crops to counter the drought and heatwave.
He noted that the ‘Han’ah’ period sees a rise in date ripening, while the ground begins to cool gradually towards its end, despite the continued extremely hot surface conditions.
Al-Husaini appealed to livestock owners and employers of workers under direct sunlight to check on them, provide shade and water, warning of the risk of heat stress during one of the hottest and driest periods of the year. He stressed the importance of ensuring their safety and protecting them from the dangers of working in hot weather.
