Sharjah on 29 June / WAM / The season 'Jumrat al-Qaydh' begins in the UAE at dawn of next July 3 with the rising of the stars of al-Jawza (Gemini) from the eastern horizon, and it is the second season of al-Qaydh that extends until next August 10.

The period 'Jumrat al-Qaydh' is considered the hottest season in the Arabian Peninsula, with increasing drought and hot, dry winds (simum winds) that are extremely hot and dry.

Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Astronomy Society and member of the Arab Union for Space and Astronomy, mentioned that 'Wagharat al-Qaydh' (heat waves) that occur alternately are heat waves where temperatures rise above normal by at least 4 degrees Celsius for several days, characterized by extreme heat and dryness.

He said that the most important 'wagharat' are 'Waghra al-Thurayya' which began on June 7 and continues until July 2, 'Waghra al-Jawza' extending between July 3 and 28, 'Waghra al-Marzam' extending from July 29 to August 10, and 'Gharra Suhail' extending from August 11 to next September 5.
