The branch of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in Mecca region, represented by the Emergency Operations Room, participated in an exercise simulating response and recovery procedures for flash flood and flood risks, as well as shelter and humanitarian relief procedures, with participation from several government agencies.

The exercise aimed to test the readiness of field teams, coordination mechanisms, and response speed by simulating multiple scenarios that included receiving reports, conducting field surveys, providing pumps and equipment, and activating evacuation plans.

The Director General of the branch, Engineer Waleed bin Ibrahim Al Dughais, explained that the branch's participation in the exercise comes as part of efforts to raise readiness to face flood and torrent risks, emphasizing the importance of integration among government agencies to enhance response speed and deal with emergency situations.

The Director of the Emergency Operations Room at the branch, Engineer Riyadh Al-Faqih, pointed out that the emergency room operates around the clock to follow up on developments and coordinate with relevant authorities, noting that the exercise contributed to testing field work mechanisms, identifying opportunities for improvement, and enhancing the readiness of work teams and equipment.
