The Malaysian Meteorological Department has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds, expected to affect several areas in nine states. The department explained in a statement that the warning covers the entire state of Melaka, the district of Baleng in Kedah, the Hulu Perak district in Perak, as well as the districts of Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Kota Bharu, Jeli, Tanah Merah, Bachok, Machang, Pasir Puteh and Kuala Krai in Kelantan. It added that the same weather conditions are also expected to affect the districts of Besut, Setiu, Kuala Nerus, Hulu Terengganu, Kuala Terengganu and Marang in Terengganu, the Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub and Bentong in Pahang, and in Johor, the warning includes the districts of Tangkak, Muar, Batu Pahat, Pontian and Johor Bahru.
