Supporters of the youth-led 'Cockroach' movement in India announced on Tuesday their intention to continue their protests in New Delhi and refused to leave their sit-in site, a day after police used tear gas and batons to disperse thousands of protesters attempting to march to Parliament.

Hundreds of protesters are sitting in at 'Jantar Mantar,' a designated protest site, under heavy security presence, asserting they will not leave until the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, over what they describe as the failure of India's exam system.

For his part, Abhijit Dipki, founder of the Cockroach party, established just two months ago, said: 'We will continue our protest.'
