Iraq and the United States of America have signed 48 agreements, memoranda of understanding, economic cooperation deals, and a comprehensive partnership declaration between various public and private sectors of the two countries.
The signing took place on Friday evening under the patronage of Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi, as part of his ongoing official visit to the US capital Washington, according to a statement issued by his office on Saturday.
The statement said that al-Zaidi "sponsored the signing of 48 agreements, memoranda of understanding, cooperation deals, and partnership declarations between various public and private sectors in Iraq and the United States of America."
It stated that this package, between various public and private sectors in Iraq and the United States of America, establishes "a clear path for economic and financial cooperation between the two countries, elevating the relationship to an advanced level of exchange that serves the interests of both parties."
According to the statement, the agreements and memoranda of understanding included cooperation and partnership between the Iraqi ministries of oil and electricity, their companies, and other government sectors with major American and international companies, foremost among them ExxonMobil, KBR, GE Vernova, Shell, and Halliburton.
According to the statement, the ceremony also included the signing of a cooperation and service introduction agreement between the Media and Communications Authority and Starlink for satellite internet, in addition to concluding an additional cooperation agreement with Halliburton.
The agreements signed between the two sides also included a memorandum of understanding between Keysight Technologies and the Iraqi private sector, a partnership with the global company PepsiCo, as well as agreements with several companies related to laying oil pipelines to the Syrian port of Banias on the Mediterranean Sea.
On the developmental and health fronts, the two parties concluded partnership agreements in the field of education, in addition to signing qualitative agreements between private sector companies of the two countries in the field of pharmaceutical supply and manufacturing.
The statement indicated that the joint agreements and memoranda of understanding included partnerships with KBR and UOP, and understandings with Polaris and the Association of Energy Engineers, in addition to BPTA, a leading company in electronic networks.
In the developmental sector, two agreements were signed with Frito-Lay aimed at developing the agricultural sector in Iraq, in addition to concluding partnerships with companies specialized in agricultural, commercial, and industrial fields, according to the same source.
On Monday, al-Zaidi arrived in Washington heading a high-level government delegation, in his first foreign visit since assuming office in May 2026, to hold talks with US President Donald Trump and sign memoranda of understanding in the oil and gas sectors.
On Friday, al-Zaidi emphasized the strength of the economic partnership with the United States during his participation in a broad business conference hosted by the US Chamber of Commerce in Washington, attended by a number of businessmen, bankers, representatives of American companies, financial institutions, and industrial and technological sectors.
