The US military announced Wednesday it had launched a new wave of airstrikes on Iran at 6:00 AM Eastern Time (10:00 AM GMT).

US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement on X: 'The strikes aim to continue degrading the military capabilities used by Iranian forces to attack commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.'

CENTCOM later announced the end of the latest round of strikes, stating it had targeted 'dozens of military targets near the Strait of Hormuz and Iranian coastal areas.'

In response, the Iranian military announced that seven of its personnel were killed in US strikes targeting southeastern Iran, noting that the US military fired 13 missiles at a military barracks near the city of Iranshahr, located about 1,500 kilometers from Tehran.

Iranian Health Ministry spokesman Hossein Kermanpour reported that more than 260 people were wounded in the latest round of raids, a figure exceeding any previous round of escalation between the two countries, without providing death toll figures.

The coastal city of Bushehr in southwestern Iran, which hosts the country's only nuclear power plant, was hit by new US strikes. Bushehr Governor Mohammad Mozaffari said: 'The American enemy today attacked three sites in Bushehr.'

In terms of verbal escalation, US President Donald Trump said in an interview with Fox News on Tuesday that he would expand the scope of strikes next week to include power plants and bridges if Tehran does not reach a deal, saying: 'Next week will be very bad for them, because next week power plants and bridges will be targeted.'
