(CNN)-- US federal police arrested brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate on an extradition request from the UK on rape charges.

Police arrested the social media influencers on Sunday in Miami, following an investigation into sexual crimes reported by 7 victims, according to the British Crown Prosecution Service.

Andrew Tate, who has billions of online views, faces 42 charges, including rape, human trafficking, possession of indecent images of a child, and assault, according to the British Crown Prosecution Service and Bedfordshire Police in eastern England.

Tristan Tate faces 17 charges, including sexual assault, rape, and human trafficking, officials said.

A law enforcement source said the brothers will appear before a federal court in Miami next week.

The US Department of Justice confirmed that federal agents arrested Andrew and Tristan Tate "in the context of extradition proceedings," adding that the arrests "were made in accordance with the treaties and law enforcement agreements governing extraditions administered by the Department of Justice."

The brothers' lawyer said they are innocent and criticized the UK's step of requesting extradition.

Andrew Tate, who describes himself as misogynistic, became famous for his fiery speeches about male dominance, female subjugation, and wealth. His account was at one point suspended from all major social media platforms.

The brothers, who hold both US and British citizenship, face dozens of new charges, in addition to previous charges brought by the prosecution, after Bedfordshire Police presented evidence on allegations dating back to 2012, according to authorities.

Police reported that officials investigated complaints from the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire areas in eastern England.

Prosecutors in Romania had previously charged the brothers with trafficking women across Romania, the UK, and the US, and sexually exploiting them.
