Qatar participates in the first meeting of the Peace Council in Washington and announces the allocation of one billion dollars in support of its efforts

Washington, February 19 (QNA) - The State of Qatar announced the allocation of one billion dollars in support of the efforts of the Peace Council and its endeavors aimed at reaching a final solution that fulfills the aspirations of the Palestinian people to establish their internationally recognized independent state, and achieves for Israel security, stability, and natural integration into its regional environment.

This came during the participation of His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, in the first meeting of the Council, which was held today in Washington, chaired by His Excellency President Donald Trump, President of the United States of America.

His Excellency, in a speech before the meeting, reaffirmed Qatar's appreciation for the efforts made to consolidate peace, noting that under this banner, Qatar affirms its full and steadfast commitment to the Peace Council, a commitment that began from the first day of launching mediation efforts, and continued with steady steps until the historic moment that witnessed the signing of the agreement in Sharm El-Sheikh with partners, and will remain in place until its objectives are fully achieved.

His Excellency said: 'This conflict has lasted too long and cast its heavy shadow over our region and the world for decades, and our collective responsibility still requires us to redouble efforts to reach a just, comprehensive, and lasting settlement that ends the suffering and establishes a new phase of stability and coexistence.' He added in this context that the Council, under the leadership of President Trump, will continue to implement the twenty-point plan fully and according to a clear timeline, without delay or reduction, to ensure justice and fairness for both Palestinians and Israelis alike, and to enhance mutual trust between the two parties.

His Excellency the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs also affirmed that the State of Qatar will continue to coordinate its humanitarian and development efforts with its partners in the United Nations and the Peace Council, to ensure an effective response to urgent needs, support the path of recovery and reconstruction, and enhance the prospects for sustainable peace.
