Sky News Arabia correspondent in Syria reported on Sunday that two civilians drowned while crossing the Euphrates River in Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, using a locally made boat.

The Syrian Civil Defense said that at least two children died after a ferry carrying more than 35 people collided with a bridge in Deir ez-Zor while crossing the Euphrates River.

The Civil Defense also announced "the rescue of more than 15 civilians who were on board the ferry that collided with the military bridge, and all those on board fell into the river waters."

The Civil Defense added: "Teams of the Syrian Civil Defense in the Directorate of Emergency and Disaster Management in Deir ez-Zor are continuing search and rescue operations for the missing at the accident site in cooperation with the Ministry of Defense and residents."
