LONDON: King Abdullah of Jordan discussed global political developments and economic challenges with business, media and technology leaders during the Sun Valley Conference in Idaho, US, this week.

On Wednesday, he held meetings with senior executives and representatives from major companies operating in the engineering, technology, artificial intelligence, investment, healthcare, chemicals and mining sectors. These were aimed at attracting prospects for investment opportunities and strategic partnerships to Jordan, according to the Jordan News Agency. Alaa Batayneh, the director of the king’s office, attended the meetings.

The one-day annual gathering on July 8 brings together leaders from various fields, including technology, business, media, and entertainment. The conference, funded by the private investment firm Allen & Company, is known as the Sun Valley Media and Technology Conference and is often referred to as “summer camp for billionaires.”

King Abdullah also attended last year’s event, when he emphasized the significance of modernizing his country’s economy and regulations to enhance its competitiveness, attract investments, and build partnerships.
