Moscow - Agencies:
The Russian Defense Ministry announced the downing of 381 Ukrainian drones overnight in a number of provinces in the southwest of the country.
The ministry stated in a statement that Russian air defenses intercepted and destroyed the drones in several areas, including Belgorod, Bryansk, Volgograd, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Lipetsk, Oryol, Rostov, Ryazan, Smolensk, Tambov, Tula, and Moscow provinces, as well as Krasnodar Krai and the Crimean Peninsula, and areas over the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea.
In the same context, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that more than 400 drones flew toward the Russian capital overnight, noting that most of them were shot down away from the city.
These developments come amid the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war and the escalating pace of mutual attacks using missiles and drones along the frontlines, while political efforts aimed at reaching a settlement to the conflict continue to face persistent challenges.
