Riyadh, 02 Safar 1448 AH corresponding to July 16, 2026 AD, SPA - The King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies, in cooperation with the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, issued the book "Notable Figures of Egypt in the 13th and 14th Centuries AH" by historian Hassan Qasim, in an encyclopedic publication that is considered a continuation of the famous encyclopedia "Wonders of Works in Biographies and News" by historian Abdulrahman al-Jabarti, whose events stopped in 1237 AH (1821 AD). The historian Hassan Qasim continues documenting the modern history of Egypt starting from events of 1238 AH (1822 AD) up to 1390 AH (1970 AD), after years of research and authorship, presenting a historical episode documenting a period spanning about a century and a half, and filling an important gap in the documentation of modern Egyptian history. The encyclopedia comprises six volumes containing more than (3770) pages, and deals with biographies of prominent figures in Egyptian and Arab history, covering fields of politics, economics, society, literature, thought, religious and worldly sciences, in addition to biographies of Arab and non-Egyptian figures who resided in Egypt, and Orientalists who contributed to the study of its history, making it a comprehensive reference for the history of Egypt and the Arab world during the 13th and 14th centuries AH. The project relied on the original manuscript of the encyclopedia preserved at the King Faisal Center, where its verification was accomplished in cooperation with the Bibliotheca Alexandrina and the Center for Islamic Civilization Studies at the Academic Research Sector, and its verification was undertaken by Dr. Muhammad Abdel Aal Muhammad and Dr. Muhammad Sayed Mahmoud, under the supervision of a group of specialized academics, and with the participation of a team from both institutions. The encyclopedia includes detailed indexes of the figures mentioned, facilitating access to information for researchers and historians, and enhancing its value as a documented scientific reference for the study of modern and contemporary history in Egypt and the Arab world. // End // 19:57 T M 0167
